SDAAFE was Awarded A Government Grant in Conducting Census 2020 Outreach on Hard-to-Count (HTC) Population

The Census 2020 is right around the corner. Mandated by the Constitution and conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, the United States Census 2020 counts every person living in the 50 states, District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories for certain period of time. The Census 2020 impacts our community in various aspects including school lunches, plans for highways, support for firefighters and families in need. The results of the 2020 Census will help determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding flow into communities every year for the next decade.

In order to assist the effort of counting every person in San Diego county, California, SDAAFE has applied the “Count Me 2020 Census Fund grant” funded by the California Census Office, and received the grant in conducting Census outreach activities focusing on the HTC populations in the San Diego County. SDAAFE will work together with the Friends of We Chinese America to actively promote the Census 2020 in San Diego county, with focus on the following three populations including senior residents, Chinese students and scholars living in San Diego county for more than 6 months, as well as those working in the Chinese restaurants with language barriers. More information regarding the proposed activities will follow.
